A major public space, Plaza Mayor, is proposed where 43rd Street, which links the neighborhood's namesake Sunset Park with a new, planned waterfront park, crosses Third Avenue. This new civic space not only acknowledges the cultural heritage of the neighborhood's predominantly Latino population, but also serves as an exemplar of the kinds of public spaces we should be creating in North American cities and towns.>>
